Hi everyone, my name is Shyang and I’m the producer of Celebrity Sports Showdown. What’s that, you ask??? Good question. Celebrity Sports Showdown is a brand-spanking new game that was made exclusively for the Wii. There are 12 games to choose from in Celebrity Sports Showdown (actually us nerds who made it, call it CSS for short – clever, huh?). Think of recreational sports activities that you love to do on weekends or on family trips – like canoeing, beach volleyball, riding a horse, or uhh …..flying a mini-jet plane. All the games can be played with 4 people, so it’s a perfect game for the family, or when you have a bunch of friends over.

Oh…and you can choose from a roster of 10 celebrity athletes and musicians. Here’s the full lineup:
- Nelly Furtado
- Fergie
- Paul Pierce
- Keith Urban
- Sugar Ray Leonard
- Mia Hamm
- LeAnn Rimes
- Avril Lavigne
- Reggie Bush
- Kristi Yamaguchi
There are other wacky characters you can choose from as well, which we call the “Wannabe’s”. I’ll give you the rundown on those guys on a later post.
Here are the 12 games that you can play in Celebrity Sports Showdown:
- Beach Volleyball – 2 on 2 volleyball that is pure fun. OK Maverick, ready to serve?
- Inner Tubing – have you ever sat in an inner tube and be pulled by a boat around a lake?
- Wild Water Canoeing – The ultimate test in teamwork. 2 on 2 action where you and your teammate steer your canoe with paddles avoiding rocks and speeding down waterfalls.
- Cliff Hangers – It’s a rock climbing game where you need to jump out of the way of falling rocks and race to the top of the mountain!
- Slalom Showdown – it’s downhill skiing with big jumps over snow ramps.
- Hurdle Derby – imagine the speed of horse racing with the hurdle jumping of Equestrian.
- Smash Badminton – This fast paced badminton game is perfect for the Wii.
- Archery – Every man for themselves as you try and hit as many moving targets as possible in the stadium.
- Joust Duel - a 1on1 battle on a narrow platform high above a pool of water. You have a foam bat that you hold like a light-sabre and whoever gets knocked off the platform into the water loses!
- Curling – not your typical curling game though. There are “power-up stones” that you can unleash on your opponents. This is how curling should be played.
- Dodgeball – A classic game with some cool twists to the rules.
- Air Racers – Your chance to race a jet plane through a canyon, shoot missiles while avoiding floating mines.
Alright – gotta go, but next time I’ll be talking a little more about how the celebrity idea came to fruition as well as some of the favorite games that have been called out in our focus group sessions.
